240 (ex S 499.0)

The 240 “laminátka” locomotives were built by Škoda Plzeň at the turn of the 1960s and 70s as versatile AC electrics for both passenger and freight work on 25 kV / 50 Hz lines.

The elegant fibreglass bodywork, characteristic motor sound and reliable performance made them a favourite throughout the Czechoslovak network and later on ŽSR / CD rails, which is why we captured this locomotive for our sound library.
