775, 776 (ex T678.0, T679.0) "Orange" – 8bit General Project
Sound sample
Project Information
- General sound project suitable for custom modifications, mainly for individual lighting settings.
- The sound project is designed for 8-bit MX series sound decoders.
- Recommended minimum decoder software version is 40.22.
- The decoder has a base address of 3.
- Reset can be performed by setting CV8 = 8.

Maximum Speed Setting
We recommend setting the maximum speed via CV57, not CV5. Setting maximum speed via CV5 may cause changes in sound range. The acceleration time CV3 and deceleration time CV4 settings are not affected by setting maximum speed via CV57.
Shunting Mode
In the general project, position lights are turned off in shunting mode. In models, it is common to connect position lights that illuminate simultaneously with headlights. If this functionality is desired, it can be enabled by setting CV37 = 3.
The mode reduces acceleration and braking times to ¼ of the settings in CV3 and CV4. If this functionality is not desired, it can be disabled by setting CV124 = 16. Complete deactivation of acceleration and braking times is possible by setting CV124 = 19.
If the shunting mode functionality is not desired, it can be disabled by setting CV124 = 0.
The standard shunting mode setting in the project is CV124 = 18.
In shunting mode, a short horn is triggered at each start. This functionality is handled by script.
For the short horn to trigger, three conditions must be met:
- The function itself must be enabled via F3.
- The engine sound must be enabled via F8.
- The model must be accelerating from zero speed.
Setting CV837 = 8 disables this functionality, standard setting CV837 = 0.
F5 Coasting vs F6 Engine Start to Max RPM
If both functions are enabled, coasting takes precedence.
Compressor
The project implements two versions of compressor triggering, both handled by script:
Random compressor triggering, which is conditioned by enabling the engine sound via F8. This is disabled by enabling the compressor via F17.
Enabling the compressor via F17. It is conditioned by enabled F8 and zero speed.
Setting CV837 = 1 disables the ability to trigger the compressor via F17.
Setting CV837 = 2 disables random compressor triggering.
Setting CV837 = 3 disables both options, standard setting CV837 = 0.
Wheel Squealing in Curves
Wheel squealing in curves is handled by script. For triggering, several conditions must be met:
- The function itself must be enabled via F19, and the engine sound must be enabled via F8.
- The sound will not trigger at very slow speeds, the set speed must be more than 14 (from the speed range 0 – 126).
- The sound will not trigger at high speeds, the set speed must be less than 100 (from the speed range 0 – 126).
Setting CV837 = 4 disables wheel squealing in curves, standard setting CV837 = 0.
User Function Layout Setting
User function layout setting is possible via CV400 – CV428. The project does not use this for its own purposes.
Decoder Reset
It may happen that while setting up the decoder, you make a mistake that you cannot fix or get lost in the settings. In this case, we recommend performing a decoder reset. To reset the decoder, program CV8 = 8. This programming will reset to the sound project settings.

Sound Sample Numbers
"Script" means that the corresponding sound is used in the script, outside of normal use within CV. The sound number is listed here for possible standalone use of the sound when the script is disabled.
