Class 753 (ex T478.3) locomotives were manufactured by ČKD Prague. They are diesel-electric universal four-axle locomotives. Maximum allowed speed was 100 km/h. They were mass-produced during the 1970s and significantly contributed to ending steam locomotive operations in former Czechoslovakia.

Class 754 (ex T478.3) locomotives were primarily intended for passenger transport, evolving from the slightly older type 753 by installing an alternator for electric heating of passenger cars. It was the first series-produced diesel locomotive type in Czechoslovakia capable of supplying electric power to passenger cars.

Class 750 locomotives were created by reconstructing class 753, where the main reconstruction involved replacing the steam generator with a heating alternator to enable continued use of these locomotives for passenger transport.

408 units of class 753 were manufactured.

86 units of class 754 were manufactured.

163 units of class 753 locomotives were reconstructed to class 750.
