163 (ex E499.3) - 16bit MTB H0 Plux22
Sound sample
Project Information
- General sound project suitable for custom modifications, especially individual light configuration.
- The sound project is designed for 16-bit ZIMO MS series sound decoders.
- Recommended minimum decoder software version is 5.5.
- The decoder has default address 3.
- Reset can be performed by setting CV8 = 8.

Setting Maximum Speed
We recommend setting maximum speed via CV57, not CV5. Setting maximum speed via CV5 may change the sound range. CV3 acceleration time and CV4 braking time are not affected when maximum speed is set via CV57.
Shunting Mode
In shunting mode, all 4 marker lights switch on. If this functionality is not required, disable it by setting CV37 = 0. To enable it again, set CV37 = 3. Enabling this mode also switches off red lights and headlight if they are on. If this functionality is not required, disable it by setting CV430 = 0. To enable it again, set CV430 = 3.
The mode reduces acceleration and braking times to one quarter of the values set in CV3 and CV4. If this functionality is not required, disable it by setting CV124 = 16. Full deactivation of acceleration and braking timings is possible by setting CV124 = 19.
If shunting mode functionality is not required at all, disable it by setting CV124 = 0.
The standard shunting mode setting in the project is CV124 = 18.
In shunting mode, a short horn is triggered at every start. This functionality is script-controlled.
For the short horn to trigger, three conditions must be met:
- The function itself must be enabled via F3.
- Engine sound must be enabled via F8.
- The model must start from zero speed.
Setting CV837 = 8 disables this functionality; the default setting is CV837 = 0.
Cab Lighting
When cab lighting is enabled via F9, it automatically switches off while the model is moving and switches on again when the model stops. For technical reasons1), this behavior is script-controlled. If this functionality is not required, disable it by setting CV843 = 2. The standard setting is CV843 = 0.
If you require cab lighting without automatic switch-off while moving, set CV43 = 96 and CV843 = 2. To disable this mode, set CV43 = 0 and CV843 = 0.
1) Standard settings allow either slow fade in/fade out of function output or switching function output off during movement, but not both at the same time.
Compressor
The project includes two script-controlled compressor behaviors:
- Random compressor activation, conditioned by engine sound enabled via F8. This is disabled when compressor is turned on via F17.
- Compressor activation via F17. This requires F8 to be enabled and speed to be zero.
Setting CV837 = 1 disables compressor activation via F17.
Setting CV837 = 2 disables random compressor activation.
Setting CV837 = 3 disables both options; the default setting is CV837 = 0.
Curve Squeal
Curve squeal is script-controlled. Several conditions must be met for activation:
- The feature must be enabled via F19, and engine sound must be enabled via F8.
- The sound does not trigger at very low speed; speed must be higher than 14 (range 0-126).
- The sound does not trigger at high speed; speed must be lower than 100 (range 0-126).
Setting CV837 = 4 disables curve squeal; the default setting is CV837 = 0.
Decoder Reset
You may accidentally make decoder settings that are difficult to correct. In this case, we recommend performing a decoder reset. Program CV8 = 8 to reset the project settings.

Sound Sample Numbers
"Script" means that the corresponding sound is used in the script, outside of normal use within CV. The sound number is listed here for possible standalone use of the sound when the script is disabled.
