721 (ex T458.1) – Piko H0 Plux22

Verzia projektu 10.3.1

Sound sample

Project Information

  • The sound project is optimized for Piko model with Plux22 connector.
  • The sound project is designed for ZIMO MS series 16-bit sound decoders.
  • The recommended minimum decoder software version is 5.5.
  • The decoder has a default address of 3.
  • Reset can be performed by setting CV8 = 8.

Setting Maximum Speed

We recommend setting the maximum speed via CV57, not CV5. Setting the maximum speed via CV5 may cause changes in the sound range. The acceleration time settings CV3 and deceleration time CV4 are not affected by setting the maximum speed via CV57.

Shunting Mode

In shunting mode, the left position lights turn on in a cross pattern (this is a model feature). If this functionality is not desired, it can be disabled by setting CV436 = 0. To re-enable it, set CV436 = 3. Enabling the mode also turns off red lights and headlight if they are on. If this functionality is not desired, it can be disabled by setting CV430 = 0. To re-enable it, set CV430 = 3.

The mode reduces acceleration and braking times to ¼ of the settings in CV3 and CV4. If this functionality is not desired, it can be disabled by setting CV124 = 16. Complete deactivation of acceleration and braking times is possible by setting CV124 = 19.

If the shunting mode functionality is not desired, it can be disabled by setting CV124 = 0.

The standard shunting mode setting in the project is CV124 = 18.

In shunting mode, a short horn sounds at each start. This functionality is handled by script.

Three conditions must be met for the short horn to sound:

  1. The function itself must be enabled via F3.
  2. Engine sound must be enabled via F8.
  3. The model must start from zero speed.

Setting CV837 = 8 disables this functionality, standard setting is CV837 = 0.

F5 Coasting vs F6 Engine Acceleration to Max RPM

If both functions are enabled, coasting takes precedence.

Cab Lighting

When cab lighting is enabled via F9, it automatically turns off when the model is moving and turns back on when the model stops/starts. For technological reasons1), this is handled by script. If this functionality is not desired, it can be disabled by setting CV837 = 8. Standard setting is CV837 = 0.

If you want cab lighting functionality without automatic turn-off during model movement, set CV43 = 96, CV837 = 8. To disable this mode, set CV43 = 0, CV837 = 0.

1) Standard settings allow either slow fade in/out of function output or turning off function output during movement, but not both functions simultaneously.

Compressor

The project implements two versions of compressor activation, both handled by script:

  1. Random compressor activation, which is conditional on engine sound being enabled via F8. This is disabled when the compressor is turned on via F17.
  2. Compressor activation via F17. This requires F8 to be enabled and zero speed.

Setting CV837 = 1 disables compressor activation via F17.

Setting CV837 = 2 disables random compressor activation.

Setting CV837 = 3 disables both options, standard setting is CV837 = 0.

Wheel Squealing in Curves

Wheel squealing in curves is handled by script, several conditions must be met for activation:

  1. The function itself must be enabled via F19, and engine sound must be enabled via F8.
  2. The sound won't activate at very slow speeds, set speed must be more than 14 (from speed range 0 – 126).
  3. The sound won't activate at high speeds, set speed must be less than 100 (from speed range 0 – 126).

Setting CV837 = 4 disables wheel squealing in curves, standard setting is CV837 = 0.

User Function Mapping

User function mapping is possible via CV400 – CV428. The project doesn't use it for its needs.

Decoder Reset

It may happen that while setting up the decoder, you make a mistake that you can't fix, or you get lost in the settings. In this case, we recommend performing a decoder reset. To reset the decoder, program CV8 = 8. This programming will reset to the sound project settings.
