742 (ex T466.2) "Kocúr"

Class 742 (ex T466.2) locomotives were manufactured by ČKD Prague. They are diesel-electric four-axle hood locomotives designed for freight transport and shunting, their design is based on class 740. Maximum allowed speed was 90 km/h.
They were the last diesel locomotives that directly replaced steam locomotives in service. During their production period, they also pushed most of the older, less reliable class 725 and 726 machines out of service. The locomotive is powered by a high-speed, vertical, four-stroke, in-line, six-cylinder ČKD K 6 S 230 DR engine with max. power of 883 kW at 1250 rpm.
Currently, they are practically the most numerous locomotives in Slovakia. A total of 494 units of class 742 were manufactured.
