M41 (Csörgő)

M41 Csörgő

The M41 is a B'B' diesel locomotive with hydraulic transmission, designed for non-electrified lines and produced between 1972 and 1984.

MÁV needed locomotives capable of hauling medium passenger trains on main lines with a 16.5-ton axle load limit, which led to the development of the class.

The locomotives handled suburban push-pull services as well, until the ongoing electrification of Hungarian railways reduced their reign. Units were also exported to Tunisia and Greece.

A total of 114 locomotives were built. (source: Wikipedia, Atlas vozidel 1. díl, photo: Artol)
