751/752 (ex T478.1) "Bardotka"

Class 751 locomotives (ex T478.1) were produced by ČKD between 1964 and 1971. They are diesel-electric universal four-axle locomotives with Bo´ Bo´ wheel arrangement and a maximum permitted speed of 100 km/h.
When the project was launched it was undecided whether the locomotive should use electric or hydraulic power transmission. In 1964 both variants were produced: T478.1 with electric transmission and T478.2001 with hydraulic transmission. They entered trial operation in 1965. The electric transmission proved successful, so the hydraulic version was discontinued. After the delivery of class T478.2 locomotives, T478.2001 was renumbered to T478.4001 and later to T478.4501. It never belonged to ČSD and was scrapped in 1977.
The locomotives quickly became an important reinforcement in regular operation and pushed many steam locomotives into secondary service or out of service altogether. They were equipped with a PG500 steam generator for coach heating, so they were primarily used on passenger and express trains, entering freight service only occasionally.
Class 752 locomotives are a derivative version without the coach-heating equipment and were used mainly in freight service.
A total of 230 class 751 (ex T478.1) locomotives and 82 class 752 (ex T478.2) locomotives were produced.
